SECOND AMENDMENT UNDER SIEGE AGAIN

Ken Blackwell's article (at the Fox Forum) of May 26, "Obama Declares War On American's Gun Owners With Supreme Court Pick", only emphasizes where our country is headed if America doesn't react soon! Maybe it is time for some amendments to our state constitutions.

As Ken referenced, regarding a statement made by Sotomayor on states rights, "According to Judge Sotomayor, if your state or city bans all guns the way Washington, D.C. did, that’s okay under the Constitution".

That's not okay with me. It is not okay with most Americans. We have a struggle on our hands with this one. She is showing all signs of a non-Constitutionalist; most conservatives, I am sure, will agree. I believe Ken is right on target when he says, "But when it comes to gun rights, we don’t need to guess. Judge Sotomayor has put in writing what she thinks. President Obama has nominated a radically anti-Second Amendment judge to be our newest Supreme Court justice. Question is, where do we go from here?

You scare me. You and the millions of so-called Americans like you truly scare me. How can you so foolishly watch the security of our nation be destroyed by the menace of guns? How can you deny that the greed of the people you call "patriots and real Americans" only exasperates the chaos that grips our nation, has turned Mexico into a near failed state thanks to our a) hunger for drugs and b) the ready supply of weapons they can illegally buy in American. Stop abusing the Constitution and wake up. I pray you never have to suffer the loss of a loved one thanks to the freedom some maniac had in obtaining a weapon thanks to you and your "good, God-fearing" friends.

I don't know your personal story, but I have one of my own. I had a gun held on me and my sister (her husband at the time) when I was 10 years old. He was in the US Air Force and I am not sure why he flipped out but did. My dad got to him before he did us in. To this day, I am not excited about guns but the point that I have not MISSED, which I feel you have, is that our Constitution has provided for the people, through the right to bear arms, if needed, a form of protection for ourselves and our families from the tyranny of government(s) as well as criminals.

I would like to refer you to the personal story of Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp a former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives (1997-2007) and a doctor of chiropractic. On October 16, 1991, Suzanna's life changed forever. Having lunch with her parents at a cafeteria in Texas, she witnessed a shooting rampage perpetrated by a mad man driving his truck through the building. He continues the shooting rampage killing 23, wounding 20 and then committing suicide. Due to Texas law, Suzanna had left her gun in her car and when she needed it the most could not protect herself or her family.

I suggest you listen to her testimony: Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp's Testimony. I hope this link will go through for you. If not, it can be found at "You Tube".

I believe this is the true meaning of the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Taking the guns away from the majority of law abiding citizens does not take the guns away from the criminals. Leaving Americans totally defenseless is unconstitutional and unAmerican.

Chicken and the egg; had that lunatic at the Luby's (I believe that was where it was) had not had such ready access to weapons, then that would not have happened.

Look at the rest of the world, such killing-sprees happen so, so, so infrequently that we could say they don't happen. The 2nd Ammendment gives the right to bear arms because there was not supposed to a standing army; it was also, over 300 years ago when there were also virtually no police. Our amazing system of balances will prevent us from the effects of "tyranny of government"--which despite the best efforts of W. and Cheney and others was prevented thanks not to number 2--as you all call it--but to the main body of our beloved Constitution. The 2nd Ammendment does not make us safer, it makes us less safe. Just ask the 16,000 who will die this year as a result of abuse of, what you all call, "a few lone, crazy's".

POLITICAL WATCH

JULY 4 - Time For Tea

The American people came out on July 4 to protest high taxes and run-a-way government spending. From 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., citizens of Ventura, CA came out to show their support for less taxes and less government interference. As a spectator and one who attended the first Ventura Tea Party, I would say we doubled the turnout of patriots.

All across the country the signs, flags and banners that were carried at the tea parties showed the position that the American people are taking toward its government. They are mad and they are not going to take it anymore!
