January 7, 2020

Wow, I don't know about you but typing 2020 is hard to get use to!  My objective is to try and blog on a consistent basis this year...I guess you would say my New Years Resolution for 2020.  What are yours?

I have also decided to wrote more...I wrote poetry and want to expand on my writing.  I also paint...so I need to do more there.  I have been trying my luck at oils but find it somewhat difficult.  I have played with acrylics and watercolors which seem easier for the most part.  Any helpful hints?

Another interest I have is in studying and painting birds.  I don't see very many around my place but plan on putting out more flowers that will attract more birds.  I have seen robins, hummingbirds and we have a resident woodpecker.  Would like more visitors.

Stop by and tell me what you are going to do for your New Years Resolution.

Cesar Milan - Leader of the Pack

I just love to listen to Cesar Milan and his theories and technics on training humans and rehabilitating dogs.  I ran across this interview where by Cesar tells how he developed his talent, his successes while learning from his failures; applying what he learned and how he built a solid business from a talent accquired as a young man in Mexico.

Cesar has an excellent understanding of Pack Dynamics and he has learned how to apply much of the principles to growing his business.  I really feel there is something for everyone to gain from listening to this uplifting interviewing.

After the video besure to visit his Web page:

Children - What Are They Reading?

How do you feel about what your young adults might be reading? Do you feel they can be influenced by some of the darker side of so called literature? Or, do you feel that you're glad if they pick up a book at all. Do you worry that they might be getting too much fiction packed with sexuality, profanity or vividly, grotesque, morbid details; you should be.
When I was a young adult, we read about people who painted positive, honorable, challenging adventurous tales such as Treasure Island, Moby Dick or Nancy Drew Mysteries; also, baseball heroes, men and women who accomplished great things, stories that presented values instead of glorifying sex, murder and violence or terrorizing the reader or destroying their self-confidence.
Meghan C Gurdon, Children's Book Reviewer gives an in-depth analysis of what young kids are reading today, not just on their own but what many highly respectable people or industries are pushing, calling it literature. Meghan mentions that some educators believe that we don't need guidelines when it comes to what is read by children - young minds are not in the need of a gatekeeper. Meghan mentions in her article about young adult book author Lauren Myracle, hailed as a person "on the front lines in the fight for freedom of expression" who has made it clear that she doesn't believe there should be any line between adult literature and literature for young people. I would have to agree with Meghan that Myracle's interpretation of young people not needing a gatekeeper is a bit radical: Myracle believes "...young people should encounter material that jolts them out of their comfort zone; that the world is a tough place; and that there's no point shielding children from reality."
Where do we draw the line as to how much "jolting" our children need, especially by those who may or may not be qualified to teach values to our kids. Please read the article in its entirety by clicking on the link below.

H APPY LABOR DAY - SEPTEMBER 2, 2013

GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY, THOSE WHO HOLD TRADE JOBS AND OUR AMERICAN MOMS!

August 19, 2013

If you are feed up with our education system as most of us are then you will want to be informed about another possible disaster on the horizon: Common Core. Common Core comes from Obama's education department; it objective is to get all states and schools to adopt national education standards for each grade level that will dictate what your child will learn or won't learn. Once again, the federal government wants to control at the local and state level.

It doesn't stop at the public level. Its hope is to control the curriculum of charter schools, private, religious (including Catholic schools) and homeschooling.

For more about Common Core, check out Phyllis Schlafly's report at Eagle Forum.

THIS IS WHO I AM

My photo
Utah, United States
I am a retired grandmother who lost her husband of 42 years in 2010, to cancer. I relocated from Ventura, CA to a community near Salt Lake City, Utah to be with my son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. I am a believer in Jeshua our Lord and in the true Saturday Sabbath as our worship day. I am learning more and more about what our role is here on Earth as well as what it will be when Yeshua returns. I love to study our Lord, crochet, watercolors, and writing.poetry. I would love to hear from others who share my interest; come visit and share your interests with me. Let''s talk.

POLITICAL WATCH

JULY 4 - Time For Tea

The American people came out on July 4 to protest high taxes and run-a-way government spending. From 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., citizens of Ventura, CA came out to show their support for less taxes and less government interference. As a spectator and one who attended the first Ventura Tea Party, I would say we doubled the turnout of patriots.

All across the country the signs, flags and banners that were carried at the tea parties showed the position that the American people are taking toward its government. They are mad and they are not going to take it anymore!
