Global Warming? Don't Be To Sure!

U.S. Circuit & District Courts

Global Warming:

# Ned Comer v. Murphy Oil USA — Eagle Forum filed an amicus curiae brief (PDF) in the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, May 7, 2010.
Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund urges the Fifth Circuit, sitting en banc, to end the silly lawsuit trying to recover money from energy and other companies for what is really a global warming hoax. Read our amicus brief explaining numerous reasons why the Court should throw out this global warming lawsuit. Judicial activism should not allow the looting of our productive, free enterprise system based on hokey, untestable theories of global warming.

A Time For Choosing

This October 27 will be the 46 year anniversary at which Ronald Reagan give his famous speech, A Time For Choosing. Once again, folks will be going to the polls November 2, and it will be a time for choosing. A time to vote out of office those government officials who haven't been representing the American people but who have been more self-serving. Remember...

A Time For Choosing
Ronald Reagan
October 27, 1964

Thank you very much. Thank you and good evening. The sponsor has been identified, but
unlike most television programs, the performer hasn’t been provided with a script. As a matter of fact, I have been permitted to choose my own ideas regarding the choice that we face in the next few weeks.

I have spent most of my life as a Democrat. I recently have seen fit to follow another course. I believe that the issues confronting us cross party lines. Now, one side in this campaign has been telling us that the issues of this election are the maintenance of peace and prosperity. The line has been used "We’ve never had it so good."

But I have an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn’t something on which we can base our hopes for the future. No nation in history has ever survived a tax burden that reached a third of its national income. Today, 37 cents of every dollar earned in this country is the tax collector’s share, and yet our government continues to spend $17 million a day more than the government takes in. We haven’t balanced our budget 28 out of the last 34 years. We have raised our debt limit three times in the last twelve months, and now our national debt is one and a half times bigger than all the combined debts of all the nations in the world. We have $15 billion in gold in our treasury—we don’t own an ounce. Foreign dollar claims are $27.3 billion, and we have just had announced that the dollar of 1939 will now purchase 45 cents in its total value.

As for the peace that we would preserve, I wonder who among us would like to approach
the wife or mother whose husband or son has died in South Vietnam and ask them if they think this is a peace that should be maintained indefinitely. Do they mean peace, or do they mean we just want to be left in peace? There can be no real peace while one American is dying some place in the world for the rest of us. We are at war with the most dangerous enemy that has ever faced mankind in his long climb from the swamp to the stars, and it has been said if we lose that war, and in doing so lose this way of freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening. Well, I think it’s time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers.

INTELLECTUAL BLINDNESS

None is so blind as he who will not see,
Even though BLIND, he may not be.
When offered facts and clear questions,
He shuts down his brain; while taking umbrage and exceptions.
It is sad to see Honesty trumped by dimwitted ideology.

Losing My Best Friend

On Friday September 3, at 3:30 p.m. I lost my husband, Bruce C. Davison, to lung cancer. We were married 42 years. We have one wonderful son and daughter-in-law who gave us two beautiful granddaughters. I am so fortunate to have them to love and be loved by.

Bruce was a loving father and husband and loved people. He loved reading and was a walking encyclopedia. He loved words, politics and statistics. He enjoyed puzzles and wood carving. He had found a new love in drama at our church. He was pretty good at it. I am glad we purchased DVDs so that I can share them with the girls when they are older.

Saturdays were special to both of us because we would sit and visit and talk. We had great talks on Saturday. I will truly miss our talks. It was a time to visit, discuss the world events, the Bible and just read to each other.

Bruce had quit smoking more than 17 years ago, but it still wasn't enough. On March 6, 2009, he had lung surgery. He had a portion of his left lung removed. He went through several chemo treatments, and maybe, he did gain some time. He prayed that God would give him five more years to spend with the family. The answer he wanted was not to be.

Bruce believed in the Lord and even though he questioned what had transpired he never got mad at the Lord. He always said that he made the decision to smoke. He was very strong and fought a good fight up to the last moment.

I want to encourage all who smoke to quit. Do it for yourself, do it for your love ones. Do it for your creator as he gave us a perfect body and we should try to take the best care of it as we can.

So long my friend, my love, my darling. I will truly miss you. You are in good hands now. May you rest in peace.

Your loving wife,
Sandy

Manhattan Declaration

Our country is falling apart. We are seeing a complete reversal of morals in this great country of ours. Values we used to believe seem to have completely flipped to being not so desirable and not so just as if people were more concerned with the fad of being with the "in crowd" and not standing for what is right. What used to be considered moral, good for the majority of the people and the basis in which to bring up our children is no longer true for many. It seems to be the fad to live together, have children and then get married; white collar crime is continuously proving to be the way to the corporate top; and the punishment given for rape and murder seems to amount to less and less as time goes by.

Now many of us look at our government and wonder if justice and morality have fallen out of Washington, D.C. and into the Potomic River? The current Administration seems to have abdicated their responsibility to protect the rights and safety of the American public. They seem to be more interested in political correctness than reality. Where is the morality of those who are attacking the people who are willing to protect us? Why are they even going to the point of threatening to not accept the criminals turned over to ICE by the legitimate police agencies of Arizona?

Maybe it is time to rededicate ourselves to the preservation of this marvelous country we inherited! For those of us who are actively concerned about the direction our Nation is being dragged, one possible solution is to reevaluate the implications of a recent call to action by the leaders of the religious community, namely the Manhattan Declaration issued in November 2009.

Obama's Land Grab

It just doesn't stop. What will the Obama Administration be gobbling up next? The government has plenty of land, which is obvious when you travel from state to state and you notice the signs that say, "Government Property". The article states the government currently owns 650 million acres, or 29 percent of the nation's total land now.

So what are they grabbing? They are grabbing "states rights" property. They claim for the purpose of creating jobs or to preserve endangered lands?. The government can't even properly maintain our parks because they don't have the funds! Please write your congressman and let them know enough is enough! See the story for yourselves below.

***********************************

THE WASHINGTON TIMES: By Sen. Jim DeMint

You'd think the Obama administration is busy enough controlling the banks, insurance companies and automakers, but thanks to whistleblowers at the Department of the Interior, we now learn they're planning to increase their control over energy-rich land in the West.

A secret administration memo has surfaced revealing plans for the federal government to seize more than 10 million acres from Montana to New Mexico, halting job- creating activities like ranching, forestry, mining and energy development. Worse, this land grab would dry up tax revenue that's essential for funding schools, firehouses and community centers.

President Obama could enact the plans in this memo with just the stroke of a pen, without any input from the communities affected by it.

At a time when our national unemployment rate is 9.7 percent, it is unbelievable anyone would be looking to stop job-creating energy enterprises, yet that's exactly what's happening.

TWT RELATED STORIES:
• Lawmakers cry 'jobs' to push through bills
• Bunning relents; jobless bill passes
• Obama considers GOP health bill input
• Supreme Court appears set to widen gun rights
• D.C. issues first gay-marriage licenses

The document lists 14 properties that, according to the document, "might be good candidates" for Mr. Obama to nab through presidential proclamation. Apparently, Washington bureaucrats believe it's more important to preserve grass and rocks for birdwatchers and backpackers than to keep these local economies thriving.

Van Jones Is Back

Van Jones Goes Back To School

By INVESTORS.COM

Posted 03/02/2010 07:48 PM ET

Academia: The former green jobs czar in the Obama administration and self-avowed communist has landed a job at an Ivy League school, where he'll be teaching your children why America is racist, capitalism is bad, and redistribution of wealth is good.

We have often commented on how academia leans far to the left and how nutty professors like the infamous Ward Churchill can find acceptance for their wacky philosophies. So it was not a total surprise last week when Princeton University announced that Van Jones will be teaching environmental policy at the prestigious school.

Jones has been appointed a visiting fellow in the Center for African American Studies and the Program in Science, Technology and Environmental Policy at the university's Wilson School.

Noliwe Rooks, associate director of the Center for African American Studies, told the Daily Princetonian that Jones will also conduct research and host discussions on subjects such as "the next phase of green jobs, environmental policy (and) environmental justice."

What Jones means by environmental justice is the redistribution of wealth from successful capitalists and entrepreneurs to minorities and American Indians who he says have been shut out of the system and exploited by it.

Just two weeks before he started his White House job, Jones delivered the keynote address at Power Shift '09, billed as the largest youth summit on climate change in history. A reported 12,000 young people were at the D.C. Convention Center for the event.

Can You Make A New Nut Out Of An Old Nut?

ACORN is reorganizing! No matter what lipstick you put on a pig, it is still a pig!

************************************

From: FoxNews

ACORN is turning over a new leaf.

The embattled advocacy organization is shuttering offices and rebranding itself in individual states, though the new groups share similar goals to the original national organization.

In Brooklyn, ACORN is now called "New York Communities for Change," the New York Post reported Tuesday, though change didn’t reach the masthead: Many of the same board members were simply rolled over. The relaunch comes as Politico reported the group is dissolving its entire national structure after a conservative group accused the organization of voter fraud.

"New York ACORN has closed its doors in New York City… there was a desire on the part of former members and staff to chart a new course with a new, independent organization that would get back to the basics of organizing," a spokesman said.

An ACORN branch in California announced a similar makeover.

A separate statement put out by spokesman Scott Levenson blamed ACORN's troubles on "a series of vicious right-wing attacks over the past year and a half, and this has made it harder for ACORN to raise funds and organize and serve its members."

Gangster Government

If you are really interested in what is happening to our country, listen to this Congresswoman's take on it. I could not have said it any better.

Obama's EEOC Nominee - "Not Tolerate" any "Private Beliefs"...?

I don't know about you, but when it comes to "freedom of speech", I do not think of separating my speech into 'identity liberty' and 'belief liberty'. That's not freedom, that's just more government control. There are already laws on the books to protect the rights of individuals without developing new laws that are basically for the benefit of a few chosen who have an agenda. Not to mention that this sounds like it is right out of "1984" and it smacks of "nazism" to me.

So please get a good look at the picture to your right. This is the new nominee for the Department of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has her program which she feels we all need to live by. She seems to believe that "gay rights" need to triumph and this is how she plans to do it. But, at what cost to religious freedom?

Please take the time to read the article below her picture. Your future freedom of speech may depend on it.

Obama’s EEOC Nominee: Society Should ‘Not Tolerate Private Beliefs’ That ‘Adversely Affect’ Homosexuals
Monday, January 18, 2010
By Matt Cover, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) - Chai Feldblum, the Georgetown University law professor nominated by President Obama to serve on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, has written that society should “not tolerate” any “private beliefs,” including religious beliefs, that may negatively affect homosexual “equality.”

Feldblum, whose nomination was advanced in a closed session of the Senate Health Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee on December 12, published an article entitled “Moral Conflict and Liberty: Gay Rights and Religion” in the Brooklyn Law Review in 2006.

“Just as we do not tolerate private racial beliefs that adversely affect African-Americans in the commercial arena, even if such beliefs are based on religious views, we should similarly not tolerate private beliefs about sexual orientation and gender identity that adversely affect LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] people,” the Georgetown law professor argued.

Feldblum’s admittedly “radical” view is based on what she sees as a “zero-sum game” between religious freedom and the homosexual agenda, where “a gain for one side necessarily entails a corresponding loss for the other side.”

“For those who believe that a homosexual or bisexual orientation is not morally neutral, and that an individual who acts on his or her homosexual orientation is acting in a sinful or harmful manner (to himself or herself and to others), it is problematic when the government passes a law that gives such individuals equal access to all societal institutions,” Feldblum wrote.

“Conversely, for those who believe that any sexual orientation, including a homosexual or bisexual orientation, is morally neutral, and that an individual who acts on his or her homosexual or bisexual orientation acts in an honest and good manner, it is problematic when the government fails to pass laws providing equality to such individuals.”

Another Global Warming Mistake

Credit: bbc News

The vice-chairman of the UN's climate science panel has admitted it made a mistake in asserting that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) included the date in its 2007 assessment of climate impacts.

A number of scientists have recently disputed the 2035 figure, and Jean-Pascal van Ypersele told BBC News that it was an error and would be reviewed.

But he said it did not change the broad picture of man-made climate change.

The issue, which BBC News first reported on 05 December, has reverberated around climate websites in recent days.

Some commentators maintain that taken together with the contents of e-mails stolen last year from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, it undermines the credibility of climate science.

Dr van Ypersele said this was not the case.

"I don't see how one mistake in a 3,000-page report can damage the credibility of the overall report," he said.

"Some people will attempt to use it to damage the credibility of the IPCC; but if we can uncover it, and explain it and change it, it should strengthen the IPCC's credibility, showing that we are ready to learn from our mistakes."

Grey area

The claim that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035 appears to have originated in a 1999 interview with Indian glaciologist Syed Hasnain, published in New Scientist magazine.

POLITICAL WATCH

JULY 4 - Time For Tea

The American people came out on July 4 to protest high taxes and run-a-way government spending. From 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., citizens of Ventura, CA came out to show their support for less taxes and less government interference. As a spectator and one who attended the first Ventura Tea Party, I would say we doubled the turnout of patriots.

All across the country the signs, flags and banners that were carried at the tea parties showed the position that the American people are taking toward its government. They are mad and they are not going to take it anymore!
