25 Myths of the US Constitution

Once in a while we all come across a blog that you just have to share. This is my time to do so. I present the "Political Pistachio". An excellent blog home of the US Constitutional speaker, writer and KCAA 1050 AM Radio Host, Douglas V. Gibbs. I would like to turn your attention to his in depth discussion on the 25 Myths of the US Constitution.

In The Winter Of My Years

I am in the winter of my years
Where part of me moves slower
Where time seems to speed up
As I just seem to get older.

Some mornings I fight back fears
As I realize the difficulties I face
The choices of whether to take the right or left road
While holding back tears and retaining some grace.

As the day wears on, I gain momentum
But it doesn't last very long
I keep my composure
All the while trying to sing a little song.

I am in the winter of my years
Where it is hard to move with ease
My hearing is slipping; my sight is less calculating
Never mind though, I find many things of which to cheer.

Some evenings I just sit and read
I reflect upon the days gone by
Trying to find things to laugh at
And not things that make me cry.

With the bad comes so much good
Images of my family, friends, things that "I might have done."
And some that "I should of, could of, and would of"
If all those concerned would have let me have my fun.

Back when I was young at heart
I wore daring colors, flowers in my hair and lace
I accepted rides from cute guys
Who I never would have let get to first base.

But now that I am here, in the winter of my years
I vow not to worry, to fret, or get uptight
I have way too much to do
Before the final winter becomes night.

I over spent myself last night
This morning the pain was great
I tried to move some boxes
I tried to move a crate.

Things got a little crazy yesterday
I even had on my schedule a date
The more he talked, the more we planned
The possibilities looked really great.

He said he was in the winter, the winter of his years
He didn't look a day older than me, however could he hear?
I watched him as he moved about how he favored his gait
I figured if he didn't speed up that we were going to be late.

We talked about our kids, our Xs and those who have died
We shared our fears, our fathoms and laughed until we cried
I am sure we exaggerate a bit or maybe even lied
But we are in the winter, the winter of our pride.

We compared this and that; we forgot, we remember it not
Yes, we are in the winter, the very winter of our years
How wonderful it is to have a friend who is similar in thought
He says he doesn't care, but he seems to care a lot!

It is important now I have someone during the winter of my years
Not as important what comes and goes what changes or what remains
God knows I don't have much time for many more escapades
More important I can share it all as I leave and my winter years fade.

You're Gone

It was only yesterday that you looked up and smiled.
It was only yesterday that you said, “Hello Baby”, in your Big Bopper voice, when I returned home from work.

It was only yesterday that we had coffee and discussed world events. But, then again, yesterday is relevant as you would have said. You have been gone now over a year.

It was only yesterday the two of us walked down to the beach. You stopped though, to catch your breath, because of the chemo treatments.

It was only yesterday we packed and hurried off to the airport but we were late; it was raining and we missed our flight that night. But, you didn’t complain. You said it would be all right. You reassured me we would make it to our son’s home. And it was true. They booked us on the next flight.

It was just yesterday, that you lay in bed, the morphine taking over your body. Because of the narcolepsy you already had, your body needed to sleep more and more. You were just not active; you were tired; you were not your self.

It was only yesterday it seems; I remember it so well. I called our son and said please come home. Your dad is not feeling well.

It was on a Friday, September 3, I remember it so well. You couldn’t eat, you couldn’t drink, and your breathing wasn’t doing very well. You just tossed, turned and slept. You had been restless, agitated, and, I believe, you knew. I so remember…

It isn’t yesterday anymore, today is now and it is so real. You’re gone, my husband, my love, but I will remember you still.

A REAL LEMON

I just read in National Review magazine the following: "The late paleoconservative Sam Francis coined the expression "anarcho-tyranny" to describe the state of society in which, as he put it, "we refuse to control real criminals (that's the anarchy) so we control the innocent (that's the tyranny)."

Why the quote? National Review shared the stupidity of the "nanny state". Big Brother is so concerned our children are breaking heavy laws that the authorities in Bethesda, Md not only shut down a Lemonade stand operated by kids but they went after the parents with a $500 fine (waved only after the public made a protest). But from the bad comes some good. In reaction to this attack of the lemonade stand, we have:

LemonadeFreedom  You will find the story, an action guide for the harassed, and you will see that August 20 has been declared Lemonade Freedom Day. It is worth your visit and maybe your support!

Camping at Steinaker Park, near Vernal, Utah

Here is the crew, except for me. I took the picture. Beautiful location where you can fish, boat and swim.

And, here is one that didn't get away.

The Lake.

The Camp Site.

The Living Planet Aquarium

Went to visit The Living Planet in Sandy, Utah recently and truly enjoyed the displays. The jellies and the sea horses (taken at visit) are my favorite.

Here is a shot of a jellie.

The coral are just as beautiful.

Tropical fish anyone?

Wave Energy

I read an article in the Smithsonian Magazine, which I love, that gave me hope for a cleaner and more efficient energy source. That source is wave energy. When you think about the ocean, its waves coming in and going out, over and over, it seems so practical and you wonder way it wasn't done long ago. Engineer van Jouanne says "patents have been around since 1799." That's a long time. Annette van Jouanne claims that the ocean's boundless energy could furnish up to 6.5 percent of U.S. electricity.

Obama Health Care Bill

I don't know about you but life is becoming more strenuous each day. The explosion of information, especially due to the Internet, gives us too many choices of knowledge (if true) in which to stay abreast.  I like to stay informed but, like you, I have only so many hours in a day. Just recently I was reading about how bad the economy is going to tip, the devalue of our dollar, how gas, food, clothing will sky rocket, unrest in general will take place in our country, possible riots, on and on and on.  If nothing else, I am worn out from what I have been reading.

Some suggest we need to look into investing in gold and silver to help during the rough periods. I have been informed that I need to store extra gasoline, more water, and have an emergency bag ready to go if I need to leave the immediate area. Today, as a topper I read that in Obama's Health Care Bill that a new Form 1099 provision was included.

I am familiar with the 1099 form and its use but what would the connection be with the Health Care Bill and other out side sources?

To quote a recent article I read, "Section 9006 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148, signed into law by President Obama this spring) turns 1099 forms into reporting forms not only for independent contractor’s income – what they have long been used for – but also to show sales, gains and losses on purchases and sales of goods as part of a trade or business."   It looks like that could be precious metals - gold and silver.

Take a look at the article and see for yourself.  And, most of us just laughed when Nancy Pelosi said, "But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, ..." We all should have been outraged.

Bilderberg Group

Meeting since 1954, the Bilderberg Group consists of a highly secretive international think tank and some say they gather to decide world policy. The group is made up of the wealthiest and most power people on the earth. Others say they are seeking a one-world government. You decide for yourselves.

This year's meeting is scheduled for Switzerland, June 9-12. See what else has been happening with the Bilderbergs.

Quote - 1857

British historian, Thomas Macaulay said

"The day will come when (in the United States) a multitude of people will choose the legislature. Is it possible to doubt what sort of a legislature will be chosen? On the one side is a statesman preaching patience, respect for rights, strict observance of public faith. On the other is a demagogue ranting about the tyranny of capitalism and usurers and asking why anybody should be permitted to drink champagne and to ride in a carriage while thousands of honest people are in want of necessaries. Which of the candidates is likely to be preferred by a workman?...When Society has entered on this downward progress, either civilization or liberty must perish. Either some Caesar or Napoleon will seize the reins of government with a strong hand, or your Republic will be as fearfully plundered and laid waste by barbarians in the twentieth century as the Roman Empire in the fifth; with this difference, that the Huns and vandals who ravaged the Roman Empire came from without, and that your Huns and vandals will have been engendered within your country, by your own institutions." *

Global Warming? Don't Be To Sure!

U.S. Circuit & District Courts

Global Warming:

# Ned Comer v. Murphy Oil USA — Eagle Forum filed an amicus curiae brief (PDF) in the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, May 7, 2010.
Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund urges the Fifth Circuit, sitting en banc, to end the silly lawsuit trying to recover money from energy and other companies for what is really a global warming hoax. Read our amicus brief explaining numerous reasons why the Court should throw out this global warming lawsuit. Judicial activism should not allow the looting of our productive, free enterprise system based on hokey, untestable theories of global warming.

POLITICAL WATCH

JULY 4 - Time For Tea

The American people came out on July 4 to protest high taxes and run-a-way government spending. From 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., citizens of Ventura, CA came out to show their support for less taxes and less government interference. As a spectator and one who attended the first Ventura Tea Party, I would say we doubled the turnout of patriots.

All across the country the signs, flags and banners that were carried at the tea parties showed the position that the American people are taking toward its government. They are mad and they are not going to take it anymore!
