OBAMA WARNED ABOUT COPENHAGEN ACTIONS
President Obama has his own political party concerned about his upcoming discussions to push for any "climate change"agreements at the Copenhagen Summit. The White House has virtually ignored the "leaks" on climate change and I believe he should be at least evaluating the information for its validity before moving ahead. But, he won't, because, I believe, it really isn't about climate change but about power (CO2 emissions ruling and monies (Cap & Trade). That's my take on it. Let's look at what Senator Webb wrote to the President as posted in The Washington Times.
******************************************
THE WASHINGTON TIMES: 12/7/09
When asked about the recent Environment Protection Agency's endangerment finding of CO2, Senator Webb told the Washington Times and others today on Capitol Hill, "I think we need to go back and look at the Supreme Court decision in which the EPA asserts that it has that authority, because it is a derived power based on legislation, and it is a limited power. I don't think the administration can agree to anything, for instance, in Copenhagen on an endangerment finding that was based on one piece legislation in a Supreme Court decision."
----------------------------------
December 2, 2009
Looks like a fellow Democrat has concern with the president's handling of the the cap and trade issue upon Mr. Obama's trip to Copenhagen. Senator Jim Webb (D - Va.) wrote to the administration last week warning President Obama that the White House does not have unilateral power to commit the United States to any standards agreed upon at the upcoming climate change conference in Denmark.:
Dear Mr. President:
I would like to express my concern regarding reports that the Administration may believe it has the unilateral power to commit the government of the United States to certain standards that may be agreed upon at the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The phrase “politically binding” has been used.
Although details have not been made available, recent statements by Special Envoy on Climate Change Todd Stern indicate that negotiators may be intending to commit the United States to a nationwide emission reduction program. As you well know from your time in the Senate, only specific legislation agreed upon in the Congress, or a treaty ratified by the Senate, could actually create such a commitment on behalf of our country.
I would very much appreciate having this matter clarified in advance of the Copenhagen meetings.
Sincerely,
Jim Webb
United States Senator
Senator Webb's office told the Washington Times Water Cooler the president has not replied back in writing, and the decision to write the president a letter on this issue comes from Mr. Webb's concern about issues of constitutional checks and balances.

New Health Care In Action!
I find it very interesting that we are now being told (by a government task force) that most women do not need mammograms every year and that breast self-exams do no good! We have either been lied to all these years by The American Cancer Society and other agencies or we are now being prepared for the "new health care" guidelines. Personally, as a female, I am going to continue to listen to my doctor and the American Cancer Society.
It seems that breast cancer specialists are denouncing the new recommendations and warning that they could undermine detecting and treating cancer early. Some of us know women who acquired cancer prior to age 40 and it was detected early due to the annual screenings.
The government task force is very defensive about its new recommendations, as reported in the Chicago Tribune: "No one is saying that women should not be screened in their 40s," said Dr. Diana Petitti, vice chair of the task force. "We're saying there needs to be a discussion between women and their doctors."
Good heavens, don't they think we ever talk to our doctors? How belittling to us and to the medical profession.

Best 100 Online Shopping

Shopping and Buying Online with the Best 100 Sites.
I love shopping malls. I like the antique malls where you go in and there are 50 different stores in one building. I love to go to the mall, get a drink and watch people. But, I don't like the excessive walking, especially around the holidays. So, I feel just like I have died and gone to Heaven when I first became acquainted with online shopping. I love searching for items and then hopefully getting a discount. Not having to get in my car and fight the traffic is a big plus for me. The more pictures and information online stores have, the better.
I like to be able to "just about" touch the item online. I look for any guarantees; for a return policy and if I can I will use PayPal. I love PayPal. It is so easy to use and I feel more secure financially when using my account and doing shopping through one location. If it is not clear as to the details of the product I want and I cannot get more information from the site, I don't buy.
So, I recommend you give it a try. And when shopping online, don't forget about your creative juices. Don't have any? That is hard to believe. I recommend you stop by and visit Squidoo. Look around and then join. It's free. I am sure you have something to say; maybe something to share. What about that special craft project that you have been working on and finally completed. Maybe someone else wants to know how to finish theirs. Meantime, check out my site and happy shopping!

Following in the Footsteps of Those Who Brought you Social Security and Medicare
Quote:
"We come before you to follow in the footsteps of those who gave our country Social Security and then Medicare," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.
Well, I believe it is sad that the American people had to become so dependent on such entitlement programs and upon the government. Legislation is going to spend over one trillion dollars to provide a new health care program to the American people. It is designed to extend coverage to 36 million Americans. (Where does that leave all the illegal immigrants?) Hang on to your wallets folks, tough times are still ahead!

Dismantling America

By Thomas Sowell
Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?
Did you think that another "czar" would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers-- that is, to create a situation where some newspapers' survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?
Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called "experts" deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?
Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom. If you have a mother who needs a heart operation or a child with some dire medical condition, how free would you feel to speak out against an administration that has the power to make life and death decisions about your loved ones?

MORE DEBT TO THE DEFICIT!
Surging US deficit under scrutiny
By P. Parameswaran (AFP) – 13 hours ago
WASHINGTON — The staggering fiscal deficit plaguing President Barack Obama's administration comes under focus Tuesday as the White House and a financial scrutiny arm of Congress provide new government budget estimates and updated economic forecasts.
The White House Office of Management and Budget will release at 9:30 am (1330 GMT) Tuesday the mid-term review of the federal government budget for fiscal year 2010 beginning October 1, the OMB said in a statement Monday.
The Congressional Budget Office, a statutory watchdog which plays a critical support role to lawmakers by providing cost estimates, said it would give its own update on the budget and economic outlook about half an hour after the White House released its report.
The White House is expected to project a further increase of two trillion dollars in its 10-year budget deficit forecast even as it trims the current budget estimates, Obama administration officials said.
The projected streak of red ink could further push up national debt levels as the nation reels from an economic crisis and adds pressure on Obama to scale back his ambitious healthcare overhaul plan.

Oppose Abortion As A Government Mandate
Freedom of Choice for some is not Freedom of Choice for others!
All Americans will be affected by Government Abortion Mandate. If this mandate passes in its current state, it will affect many individuals and organizations. Faith-based companies and hospitals, churches, pro-life organizations will be require to include abortion coverage in their insurance plans. No one should be forced to contribute to an act that they do not believe is morally viable. Where is "freedom of choice" for those who do not want this forced upon them?
I do not believe taxpayers or private insurance companies should be required to fund abortion. Outside of a true risk to a mother's life, I do not believe an abortion is justifiable. Therefore, I believe Americans should not have to pay taxes to support such a despicable act; the taking of life. We have loving people in American who want to adopt these babies and I feel this is the only option to protect God's creation.
It is not the government's job to provide funding for the mis-guided, and irresponsible actions of people. Where is the responsibility for self, or accountability to family and society? Government should not be in the business of rewarding people for their bad choices.
Secondly, the cost to the American taxpayer alone is truly unthinkable and a drain to the economy. Abortion is a big money maker for doctors and family planning clinics. This is evident from the large monies that are being generated. Lobbying groups now are spending $1.4 million a day on health care reform legislation. Cost of current proposals estimate at $1.6 trillion over 10 years. Our current Administration is aggressively pushing for speedy approval in Congress.
For the sake of millions of unborn babies, please contact your Representatives in Washington and tell them you do not want to see a government mandated abortion coverage plan in health care reform.

THE PATRIOTICKLE SPEAKS OUT
In Honduras, freedom is fighting for its life. Hell...it seems as though the citizens of the world, are fighting to keep what freedom they have left all together.
Left leaning news continues to characterize the transition in Honduras, as a Military-coup. It was NOT...a Military-coup. It was lawful and democratic.
The Hondurans have a democracy similar to that of America. They have three houses of government, and a "CONSTITUTION". The removal of the wanna-be dictator was, totally and in all ways legal. The Honduran Government had absolute authority to present its case to their Supreme Court (which is the entity that gave the final approval). They did...they won...the wanna-be dictator lost! FREEDOM PREVAILED...for now. Hail to the rights of the people of Honduras.

The man President Obama has chosen to be his science czar once advocated a shocking approach to the "population crisis" feared by scientists at the time: namely, compulsory abortions in the U.S. and a "Planetary Regime" with the power to enforce human reproduction restrictions.
"There exists ample authority under which population growth could be regulated," wrote Obama appointee John Holdren, as reported by FrontPage Magazine. "It has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society."

DON'T FALL FOR CAP AND TAX

Don't Fall for Cap and Tax

Barack Obama promised that he won't raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. He neglected to mention that this tax exemption will go only to those who don't use electricity, gasoline, heating oil, or natural gas.
The truth of the matter is that Obama will raise taxes on practically all middle-class Americans. But that's not all; in addition to new taxes on all those necessities (just think of all the appliances in your home that use electricity), he will drastically reduce our standard of living.
Obama warned during his campaign in Oregon that we can no longer keep our homes set at 72 degrees (warmed in the winter and cooled in the summer), eat whatever foods we want (if, like meat and milk products, they come from cows that have to be fed), and drive SUVs (to accommodate our family and friends). He said we cannot continue to consume 25 percent of the world's resources when we have only 4 percent of the world's population.
But why not? Americans have built a free-enterprise, private-property, rule-of-law, respect-for-contracts, innovation-receptive society that has enabled us to enjoy the highest standard of living in the world. We designed it by adoption of our unique and long-lasting U.S. Constitution, we worked for it and we paid for it, so why can't we enjoy the fruits of our labor?
This increase in our taxes and decrease in our standard of living is being sold under the slogan "cap and trade," which means giving the government the power to put a cap on the amount of carbon emissions (CO2) produced by the production of electricity, gasoline, and heating oil, and forcing businesses to buy permits for the emissions they are allowed. The process should be called "cap and tax": a cap in our standard of living, and a tax (an increase in cost) on our use of products whose manufacture emits CO2.
The Obama administration hopes that increased energy costs will force us to shift away from the use of fossil fuels to various alternatives. To nuclear plants? The left won't tolerate that. To windmills and solar panels to capture wind and sun? They now provide less than 1 percent of our energy, so the gain won't be much even if we double or triple the output. To "clean coal technology"? More likely, cap and trade would just kill the coal industry.

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other."

GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE?
People, people wake up! Government run health care? It cannot be done. Has anyone asked lately what happen to the 2.3 trillion dollars that the Department of Defense (black budget or black hole) could not account for for the fiscal year 1999? Or, what about the 1.7 trillion in 1998. And for fiscal year 2000, they reported a 1.1 trillion dollar loss.
Below are figures quoted from Government At The Brink - Volume II. An Agency by Agency Examination of Federal Government Management Problems Facing the Bush Administration - Senator Fred Thompson, Committee on Governmental Affairs United States Senate Washington, DC June, 2001. (for your own personal copy: http://hsgac.senate.gov)
Quote from page 16. "The Defense Department’s poor financial management affects every aspect of its operations. In very cold language, the IG details the problems:
We identified deficiencies in internal controls and accounting systems related to
General Property, Plant, and Equipment; Inventory; Environmental Liabilities; Military Retirement Health Benefits Liability; and material lines within the Statement of Budgetary Resources. We identified $1.1 trillion in department-level accounting entries to financial data used to prepare DOD component financial statements that were not supported by adequate audit trails or by sufficient evidence to determine their validity.5 There is no major component of the Defense Department that can balance its books. This causes some of the most incredible examples of waste, fraud, and abuse in government. For example:
In fiscal year 2000, the Department made $4.4 billion in “problem disbursements” or “intransit disbursements.” These include payments made that do not have a corresponding
bill or “obligation.” They can also include payments that were made, but that the entity to whom payment was made did not receive it. As one can imagine, these payments are highly susceptible to fraud or error."
Footnote included: [5Department of Defense, Office of Inspector General, “Internal Controls and Compliance With Laws and Regulations for the DoD Agency-Wide Financial Statements for FY 2000,” D-2001-070 (February 28, 2001).]
Now, I would also like to share a page from that same report, showing a "complex contract payment process" (words from the report not mine):

I am sorry, but my copy doesn't show the color added to better describe where the arrows are linking to, but I believe you get the picture. Chaos begets chaos. The American people cannot afford to continue dumping more dollars (i.e. health care) on top of existing bad dollars (i.e Dept. of Defense waste). It has proven not to work. What makes us believe it will work now?

ACORN Wants To Reinvent Itself
WHY would any legitimate corporation want to change its name? The name ACORN, and its symbol, the acorn, seems friendly enough. It costs a lot of money to make the change, i.e., re-register, change logos, change publications, paperwork, attorney fees on and on. BUT, if you wanted to get rid of a bad image, name change is the way to go. But, it probably doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the founder, Wade Rathke's, covered up his brother's $1 million embezzlement from ACORN's accounting and financial services arm
Citizen Consulting Incorporated.
ACORN is a parent company for over 270 organizations and unions spread internationally. However, all the funding received is filtered through Citizen Consulting Incorporated. I believe it would only be fair to have ACORN and CCI investigated since in does interact with so many affiliates and a large portion of ACORN's funds (more than $53 million has been awarded) come from the taxpayers. The eight members of ACORN-8 sure want to know and I feel they have a right to know.
An amendment offered up for discussion by Congressman Steve King (Rep IA), was crushed by the Democrats. According to the Congressman King's Web site: King introduced an amendment to keep the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) out of the 2010 Census, effectively barring taxpayer dollars in the bill provided to the Census Bureau from being disbursed to ACORN. King also introduced an amendment that would bar any taxpayer dollars in the bill from being provided to ACORN. Citizens Against Government Waste concur with his sentiment. However, I don't hold out much hope for any real action toward ACORN unless more taxpayers complain to Congress because of ACORN's relationship with President Obama.
Be sure to watch to see who will be handling the bulk of the 2010 census? Just remember that new name, Community Organizations International.

WITHIN five years internet users will have to pay to access content now free, according to Barry Diller, chief executive of InterActiveCorp in the United States, which runs about 30 websites and turns over $US1.5 billion ($A1.8 billion) each year.
"I absolutely believe the internet is passing from its free days into a paid system," he told the Advertising 2.0 conference in New York this week.
Mr Diller said the paid model would include subscriptions, one-time purchases for access to sites and micro-payments.
But not all agree. "That's quite a prediction," said Neil Ackland, managing director of the Sound Alliance Group, the largest independent online publisher in Australia. Its niche music and lifestyle sites — such as FasterLouder, SameSame and Mess+Noise — attract 500,000 unique hits a month.

SECOND AMENDMENT UNDER SIEGE AGAIN

As Ken referenced, regarding a statement made by Sotomayor on states rights, "According to Judge Sotomayor, if your state or city bans all guns the way Washington, D.C. did, that’s okay under the Constitution".
That's not okay with me. It is not okay with most Americans. We have a struggle on our hands with this one. She is showing all signs of a non-Constitutionalist; most conservatives, I am sure, will agree. I believe Ken is right on target when he says, "But when it comes to gun rights, we don’t need to guess. Judge Sotomayor has put in writing what she thinks. President Obama has nominated a radically anti-Second Amendment judge to be our newest Supreme Court justice. Question is, where do we go from here?

JUDGE SONIA SOTOMAYOR NOT THE RIGHT PICK
Enough with the judges who want to make law instead of interpret law. I am not impressed with Judge Sotomayor's flippant remark when she referred to "judges making policy". How arrogant and disrespectful of the position of Appellate Court Justice! That's strike one.
Secondly, her ridiculous ruling against the white firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut, who were discriminated against because the city felt blacks were not being given equal chance for
promotion. What was the city's "mind set" prior to the test being established? Seems the city should have been called to task; not penalize the employees. Strike two!
Thirdly, her comments at the University of California, in which she, "hopes that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life”, was clearly racists. Strike three.
And you know what happens on strike three? You're out! Oh, but wait a minute. This is not baseball, this is the Obama Administration!

POLITICAL WATCH
JULY 4 - Time For Tea
The American people came out on July 4 to protest high taxes and run-a-way government spending. From 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., citizens of Ventura, CA came out to show their support for less taxes and less government interference. As a spectator and one who attended the first Ventura Tea Party, I would say we doubled the turnout of patriots.
All across the country the signs, flags and banners that were carried at the tea parties showed the position that the American people are taking toward its government. They are mad and they are not going to take it anymore!
